This unit was created for elementary age students. Does NOT come with the anchor books. You will need to borrow them from the local library, state inter library loan, or purchase new/second hand. It should also be noted that historical paintings of mermaids are often topless. You can cover these with a sticky note or, if you own the book, add your own permanent marker seashell bra. Required books are:

Mermaid Tales from Around the World by Mary Pope Osborne
The Very Short, and Entirely True History of Mermaids by Sarah Laskow
Animal Family by Randall Jarrell (there are free audio versions linked within the unit)
Ocean animal book of choice
